JEI calculator

Estimate the employer contribution exemptions that Young Innovative Company status can open up for you.

Your R&D staff

Not part of the calculation, but it governs access to the status.

Staff directly involved in research: researchers, technicians, R&D project managers.

The average gross monthly pay of those staff.

How many months the exemption applies for this year, counted from January.

Social insurance and family allowances. Adjust it if you know your actual rate.

26% is a default value, not an official rate. Unlike the 4.5 SMIC (French minimum wage) and €240,300 caps, which are set by regulation, the rate actually exempted depends on each employee's pay level and on how it interacts with the general contribution reduction. No simulator can work that out without looking at your payslips.

2026 caps: €8,203.64 of monthly pay per employee until 31 May, €8,401.59 from 1 June, and €240,300 of exemption per site per calendar year.

Estimate calculated at a rate of 26%.

This estimate applies the two regulatory caps, 4.5 SMIC (French minimum wage) per employee per month and five times the annual social security ceiling per site, to an average employer contribution rate that is only an assumption. JEI status is also the most fast-moving scheme in our field. This calculator checks neither your size, nor who owns your capital, nor your R&D intensity: it assumes you meet those conditions. So the figure gives an order of magnitude if you qualify. It does not say that you do.

Before estimating an amount, check that your company falls within the statuseligibility tests.
