CIFRE calculator

Estimate the net cost of a doctoral researcher on a CIFRE agreement, after the ANRT (national research and technology association) grant and the Research Tax Credit.

Your doctoral researcher

2026 ANRT scale: €27,600 gross a year, minimum.

Employer contributions on gross salary. Adjust to your situation.

A CIFRE agreement runs for three years.

Estimated net annual cost

10 210 €

Would this amount survive a review? Have it checked using the form below.
Employer cost
€34,500
ANRT grant
€14,000
Estimated Research Tax Credit
€10,290
Net annual cost
€10,210
Net cost over 3 years
€30,630

That is roughly 70% of the employer cost covered.

The ANRT grant is deducted from the CIR base (line 23a of form 2069-A-SD), so the same euro is never funded twice.

Three years of research supervised by a laboratory and documented by a thesis, for a net cost often below that of a final-year intern. It is also the best scientific footing a CIR file can have.

Indicative estimate. The employer contribution rate used is an assumption: it varies with your collective agreement and the reliefs that apply. The CIR effect assumes your company qualifies for the scheme and that the researcher is assigned to research work. Someone still working on their thesis does not count as a ‘jeune docteur’ (a recent doctorate holder) for CIR purposes. The ANRT scale is revised every year.
